Five checks. One shared standard.

The standard

Five areas. One clearer picture.

Choosing a practitioner is personal. Our framework brings five key credentials into view, so you can see what has been checked and ask more informed questions.
  1. Identity

    The person behind the profile

A passport or driving licence check to connect the person behind the practice with the credentials they provide.Upload identity evidence

  2. Background / DBS

    Clearly recorded check information

A recent Basic DBS, Level 1 Disclosure Scotland or Basic AccessNI result, with the practitioner’s actual role, appropriate level and review scope confirmed. Additional role requirements still apply.Upload background / dbs evidence

  3. First aid

    Current training and renewal dates

Evidence of current first-aid training, with renewal dates recorded so it is clear when an update is needed.Upload first aid evidence

  4. Professional insurance

Cover that is kept up to date

Evidence of current cover relevant to the practitioner’s work, with policy expiry dates included in the review.Upload professional insurance evidence

  5. Qualifications

    Training relevant to the practice

Training and qualification evidence relevant to the therapies or services listed on the practitioner’s profile.Upload qualifications evidence

For clients

A little more clarity before you book.

Five reviewed areas

Identity, background / DBS, first aid, insurance and qualifications are reviewed separately.

Current status

The full badge requires all five approvals to be current and an active annual subscription.

Private documents

Evidence stays private. An approved listing shows the check outcomes and relevant dates.

Public status.
Private evidence.

An approved listing shows check outcomes and relevant dates. Sensitive identity documents, DBS evidence and private certificate details will not form part of the public record.

Verification shows what has been checked. It is not a guarantee of conduct, competence or future safety.

For practitioners

Let your preparation speak for your practice.

You invest in your training, cover and professional development. The Verified Standard is designed to make that commitment easier for potential clients to see.

The annual membership includes:

  • Evidence review in five areas
  • Verified status on your approved practitioner listing
  • Recorded review and evidence expiry dates
  • Private uploads and replacement documents

A few useful answers

Your questions, answered.

Something else on your mind? Send the team a question from your account.

Can I become Guru Guide Verified now?

Yes. Start an application for your claimed listing and provide evidence for all five areas. Secure uploads and annual payment are available when their configuration is complete; your saved application shows availability and review progress.

Is a directory listing the same as this verification programme?

No. A directory listing helps people discover your practice. The Verified Standard is a separate programme with its own evidence requirements and review process. A current directory listing or badge should not be taken as confirmation that these five programme checks have been completed.

What does the £99 annual fee cover?

The £99 annual subscription activates a Verified status on the approved listing after all five evidence areas pass review. Your documents and subscription must remain current. Any checks, insurance policies and training you purchase separately are additional costs.

Will personal documents be visible to the public?

The framework is designed to show check outcomes, relevant dates and verification status. Identity documents, DBS certificates, home addresses and private certificate details are not intended to be displayed on a public profile.

Does verification guarantee a practitioner is right for me?

Verification records the checks carried out. It is not a guarantee of conduct, competence or future safety, and does not replace your own questions about a practitioner’s experience and suitability. The Verified Standard is intended as an independent assurance programme, not a statutory regulator.

What happens when evidence expires?

The full badge stops displaying when any evidence expires, an approval is more than a year old or the annual subscription is no longer active. You can upload replacement evidence and ask the team to review it. You are responsible for keeping your documents up to date.
